Globalization and WTO Agreements
World Trade Organization (WTO) is a successor of General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and came into being as a result of the Marrakesh Agreement, on Jan. 1995. After every two years, WTO held a meeting of the Ministers called the WTO Ministerial Conference.

SDPI undertakes various activities including press conferences, seminars, farmers rallies and meetings with various ministries responsible for negotiations at the WTO head quarters.

SDPI, being a member organization of Sustainable Agriculture Action Group (SAAG), holds rallies throughout the country to emphasize the need to have discussions regarding the negotiating positions that the government takes at the WTO Ministerial meetings.

Please contact Dr. Abid Suleri (suleri@sdpi.org),Assistant Executive Director of SDPI for more details.
