Description:

Bergenia himalacia is a perennial herb. Leaves ovate or orbicular, heart shaped at the base, margin entire, fringed with bristles, hairy on both sides. Inflorescence, a raceme, on a long stalk. Flowers white, pink or purple. Fruit round, seeds many, oblong, minute. Root stock thick and fleshy.

 

Habitat:

Through out all alpine pasture of Gilgit/Baltistan.

 

Medicinal uses:

Root is tonic, used in fever, pulmonary affections and diarrhea; also
antiscrobic, bruised and applied to boils and ophthalmic, Locally, use for recovery after delivery. It is also used for dental diseases. As face cream powder of root is mix with butter and used as sun blocking cream. And also used for pneumonia, cough, fever and wounds.
