Workshops and Trainings at SDPI

 

The SDPI Center for Capacity Building (CCB) provides high quality training to the public, private and NGO sector organizations and individuals to strengthen institutions and build capacities for sustainable development. During the period July to September, 2008 CCB conducted the following trainings:

1. Training Workshop on Enhancing Secretarial Skills 7—9  July 2008

Enhancing Secretarial SkillsAn efficient and effective office secretary creates a good image of an organization and proves to be an asset to his/her supervisor. Decision-makers are overloaded by information and data so they need skilfully trained office secretaries to streamline the flow of information. The more skills secretaries have, the more time their organizational heads will save and the organization as a whole will become more effective. This workshop aimed at enhancing the skill set of professionals working at secretarial level.

 

 

 

Objectives of the workshop were to enable the participants to:

This three-day training course on Secretarial Skills was specially designed for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Kabul, Afghanistan, to improve secretarial and administrative skills of their secretarial staff.

The training was conducted by Manager – Trainings CCB, Mr. Zill-i-Ehsan.

2.  Training Workshop on Training of Trainers 22—24 July 2008

This comprehensive three-day workshop provided training tools to successfully deliver training courses. Its aim was to help people whose jobs require them to provide trainings at their workplace or to other organizations and agencies, by enhancing their knowledge and skills related to the field of Training and Development.

The workshop was attended by seven executives including three women. It was conducted by Advisor and Manager CCB at SDPI.

3. Training Workshop on Project Management 29—  31 July 2008

A major part of time and cost over-runs is attributed to delays encountered in project implementation. Good project management ensures effective implementation and timely completion of projects. It enables managers to have optimal use of human and material resources. Current project management techniques require a departure from traditional approach as it involves improved systems methodology on project selection, planning, implementation, controlling, evaluation and termination.

This training was attended by 13 participants including two women.  The training was conducted by an external trainer.

In-house Trainings for SDPI Staff:

The CCB to organized and conducted a series of trainings for SDPI staff on subjects like financial management as well as communication, reading and writing skills. In this connection following trainings were organized/conducted by CCB:

1. Training Workshop on Financial Management 25 July 2008

One-day training was held on July 25, 2008. It was conducted by Senior Manager Finance, Mr. Muhammad Wasim, and was attended by 19 staff members.

2. Training Workshop on Developing Project Proposals - 6 August 2008

This training was conducted by a team of Trainers. Overview of the training was covered by Mr. Muhammad Yasin. Mr. Qasim Shah lectured on ‘SDPI Specific Proposal Writing’ and ‘Group work’. Dr. Abid Q. Suleri shared his experiences with participants and Mr. Muhammad Wasim gave a lecture on ‘Activity based budgeting’. It was a one-day training, which was held on 6 August 2008. The training was attended by 21 staff members.

3. Training Workshop on Effective Reading 18  August 2008

A very effective training on how to read fast with maximum comprehension was conducted by Mr. Muhammad Yasin. It was attended by 12 participants.

4. Training Workshop on Speaking and Writing Skills 23 September 2008

This one-day training was conducted by Mr. Zill-i-Ehsan and Mr. Muhammad Yasin. Thirteen participants attended the training.
