Top of this page Associate Coordinator,Resource Center

A candidate for this position should possess a Masters/Bachelors in Library Sciences with 5-7 years related work experience. Knowledge of library database is a must for this position.

Terms of Reference

1. Manage the SDPI Resource Centre:

a. acquisition, cataloging, classification of library material; and

b. facilitate readers in the library

c. maintain and circulate fresh arrivals and current contents.

2. Provide/help in arranging appropriate resource material for research, and advise and assist in locating the right information.

3. Updating of library databases.

4. Disseminate/distribute information institute’s publications, newsletters, seminars and workshops.

5. Establishes Inter-library loan and resource sharing programmes with libraries and resources centers.

6. Facilitates publication exchange with academic institutions around the world.

7. Train library staff on library practices and procedures.

8. Develop virtual links with national and international information resources.

9. Using the resources of the Training Unit, impart training for a fee to librarians on library software(s) in use in SDPI Resource Centre.

10. Manage the news clipping service.

11. To help with proposal development & explore the call for proposals on web in connections with sustainable development and institutional objectives.

Any other job related task delegated by the Executive Director or his/her nominee.

A candidate for this position should possess a MBA, CA Foundation, Articles completed, ICMA or equivalent, 5-7 years related work experience, fluency in written and spoken English. Adequate computer knowledge. Extensive knowledge of QuickBooks Pro for NGOs Version 2007, on hand knowledge of ERP will be a plus.

Terms of Reference

A. Finance and Accounts
  1. Update the accounting package; extract reports and incorporate adjustments.
  2. Supervise, prepare and maintain General Legers.
  3. Supervise and prepare and disburse monthly salary after including overtime, arrears, deductions etc.
  4. Calculation of final settlement of outgoing staff and disbursement.
  5. Disburse advances and adjustments as per rules.
  6. Assist Senior Manager Finance in dealing with auditors for annual/interim audits/cash accounts and preparation of audit documents.
  7. Ensures an efficient and effective filing system for vouchers and other transaction validation system for supporting documents.
  8. Deals with banks for banking transactions and operations of the institute.
B. Donor Budgets and Reporting
  1. Facilitates in preparing quarterly/semi annual project financial reports with Sr. Finance Manager.
  2. Prepare invoices to donors as per agreements.
C. Internal Governance
  1. Assist Sr. Finance Manager in review of contracts, promotions and increments.
E. Taxation and Legal/Professional matters
  1. Assists Senior Manager Finance in issuance of staff salary certificates and filling of tax returns.
  2. Assists Senior Manager Finance in calculating staff taxes and vendor taxes.
  3. Assist Senior Finance Manager in handling the legal status of the Institute.
  4. Assist and update KIBOR, investment portfolio of SDPI

Any other responsibility relevant to nature of job given by the supervisor.

An ideal candidate for this position should possess PhD in political science, sociology with a proven track record of research/project management on emerging issues and latest developments in governance.

Terms of Reference

  1. Undertake original research in the area of governance within the overall research program approved by the Board of Governors of SDPI.
  2. Formulate a research program in the area of governance as a tool to achieve sustainable development. Manage and administer research projects within this research program.
  3. Fellows are responsible for soliciting funds to support their programs. During the first two years, they are expected to generate at least US $ 30,000 and during the third year, at least US $ 20,000.
  4. Coordinate and manage research projects involving other researchers from within or outside the Institute, and for this purpose organize planning meetings, follow-up on research contracts, establish deadlines and standards for research papers, and have drafts and final papers vetted by appropriate experts.
  5. Organize research conferences, workshops, seminars, and other forms of the dissemination of the research output of the Institute.
  6. Edit and compile research papers for publication as monographs or edited volumes.
  7. Respond to requests for policy advice from government or other agencies, directly or through the Executive Director/Fellows’ Council, in the area of your expertise.
  8. Support the SDPI training unit by delivering at least one 3-day course or three 1-day courses in a year.
  9. Participate in the meetings of the Fellows’ Council.
  10. Contribute to the research and other work of the SDPI fellows’.
  11. Assist in the administration of the Institute, by serving on committees or otherwise, as determined by the Fellows’ Council.
  12. Administer the approved budget of your research project.
  13. Contribute at least two papers in a year to the working paper series and research reports of the Institute.
  14. Deliver a minimum of two seminars in a year and contribute to the weekly seminar series as a participant as required.
  15. Supervise support and project staff.
  16. Train the staff of the Institute in organizational research and computer skills.
  17. Help with the data processing work of the Institute, including providing training, supervision or support to researchers and office staff in the use of data, computer software, and analysis techniques.
  18. Represent SDPI at national or international seminars, conferences, workshops, symposia, and other events of a professional nature.
  19. Discharge any other related administrative or research responsibilities assigned by the Executive Director/Fellows’ Council.

  1. Undertake original research in the area of climate change within the overall research program approved by the Board of Governors of SDPI.
  2. Formulate a research program in the area of climate change its causes, mitigation, adaptation and technology transfer approaches; and way forward to combat the challenges of climate change. Manage and administer research projects within this research program.
  3. Fellows are responsible for soliciting funds to support their programs. During the first two years, they are expected to generate at least US $ 30,000 and during the third year, at least US $ 20,000.
  4.
