Introduction
Non-government organizations have to seek sufficient resources to fulfill
their missions effectively and consistently. Apart from a clear mission
and strategic direction, NGOs should have the skill to attract resources
from a variety of local, national and international donors. Whereas NGOs
have to continuously seek funding, they should not entirely depend on
a single source but work towards achieving financial sustainability. This
does not, however, mean 100 percent self-financing. As one extreme is
the complete dependence on a single foreign donor while the other is the
complete financial autonomy.
This training
workshop will enable participants to acquire skills in fund raising and
preparation of proposals to seek financial support from the donors.
Who should attend?
The
workshop is specifically designed for managers from the NGO sector organizations
who have to identify donors and prepare proposal to seek funding.

At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
- Understand
the principles of fund raising;
- Understand
the need and importance of financial sustainability;
- Understand
the aspects of financial management;

discussions and group work. Simulated games and role-plays, designed to
highlight some of the important lessons, will also be a part of the training.
