The workshop is designed for trainers, training organizers, educators and professionals who need to train their colleagues. However, no previous experience as a trainer is required.

By attending the three-day comprehensive training workshop, the participants will be able to:

  • Understand the process and key concepts in adult learning;
  • Learn techniques of assessing training needs for formulating appropriate learning objectives;
  • Describe training methods and techniques suitable for trainings;
  • Effectively use handouts, props, and technology;
  • Build rapport in group setting and understand group dynamics;
  • Effectively evaluate the training event;
  • Experience the process of designing, conducting and reflecting on a training session; and
  • Assess post-training on-the-job application of acquired skills.

It will be a highly interactive and participatory workshop comprising lectures, group work, case studies, role-plays and hands on computer work on creating training materials and presentations.

2. Designing training courses

3. Training strategies and techniques

  • Select the appropriate training medium and materials
  • Use opening and closing activities
  • Accommodate each participant’s preferred learning style
  • Maximize retention of training content

4. Presentation and communication skills

  • Employ effective public speaking skills

Zahir Uddin Butt,
the lead trainer, holds masters degrees in economics, political science and public administration. A Certified Training and Development Professional Certified Human Resource Professional from Canada, he has conducted a number of workshops on training for trainers, human resources development and enhancing office management skills. He has a diverse NGO, public and private sector background, working as a management consultant, professional trainer, project administrator, and HR consultant over the last 14 years in Pakistan and Canada. He has also been a visiting faculty member with the University of Arid Agriculture, Rawalpindi, Allama Iqbal Open University, Preston University and Bahria College, Islamabad. Currently he is working with SDPI as Master Trainer.

He will be assisted by co-trainers and guest speakers.

Completed Registration forms should reach the Senior Training Coordinator via fax or mail latest by 28 January 2005. The institute will confirm registration upon receipt of fee by a return fax. Please use a separate registration form for each nominee. Please note that seats are limited and applicants will be registered on a first come, first served basis. Registration will close if all the seats are taken up before the last date.

SDPI reserves the right to cancel or postpone the workshop if circumstances require. In such an event, SDPI will ensure that registered participants are informed as soon as possible. SDPI will also refund registration fees according to our refund procedures.

Trainees successfully completing 85 percent of the workshop would be awarded certificates.
