Training Workshop on Project Management January 13-15, 2009
Venue: The training workshop will be held at a local hotel in Islamabad.

A major part of time and cost over-runs is attributed to delays encountered in project implementation. Good project management ensures effective implementation and timely completion of projects. It enables managers to have optimal use of human and material resources. Current project management techniques require a departure from traditional approach as it involves improved systems methodology on project selection, planning, implementation, controlling, evaluation and termination.

The training workshop is designed for middle and senior level managers, project planners, team leaders, coordinators and volunteers, who are directly, or indirectly, involved in projects, or are expected to be engaged in such activities in future. The training will be useful for participants from industry, social sector development organizations, academia, international funding agencies, NGOs and consultants.

English will be the medium of instruction for this workshop. However, an effort will be made to conduct the workshop using a mixture of English and Urdu.

Mr. Mubashar Nabi has almost twenty years of experience with exclusive thirteen years practical understanding of working with international and national organizations aiming at poverty alleviation through community mobilization. He specializes in the field of community mobilization with special perspective of forming institutions. Being an associate of MDF Holland, He has contributed widely in strengthening national & regional level institutions through capacity building initiatives linked with microfinance and infrastructure development.

He has initiated, implemented and managed fairly large projects funded by UNDP, WB, WFP, UNICEF, DIFD, USAID and Save The Children (US & UK). He was also amongst the pioneer professionals who initiated the National Rural Support Programme and contributed for its growth and expansion. He has been part of the formation of Human Resource Development Network which sets a milestone in the history of capacity building endeavors in the country.

Mubashar is an experienced trainer, having designed and conducted numerous trainings for national and international organizations like SUNGI, NRSP, IUCN, UNDP and WWF and has also worked as a consultant for WB, WWF & WFP.

Please return registration form to the Program Support Officer, SDPI-Centre for Capacity Building, by 5 Jan 2009 at the latest via fax or mail. The institute will confirm the registration upon receipt of fee by a return fax. Please use a separate registration form for each nominee. Seats are limited; the applicants will be registered on a first come, first serve basis. Bookings will close for registration if all the seats are taken up before the last date.

SDPI reserves the right to cancel or postpone the workshop if circumstances require. In such an event, SDPI will ensure that registered participants are informed as soon as possible. SDPI will also refund registration fees according to our refund procedures.

Trainees successfully completing 85 percent of the instructional sessions will be awarded completion certificates.
